This area is a key priority target for major development and regeneration – employment is set to boom by more than 40% from now up to 2016 and almost 10,000 new homes are going to be built across North Lewisham all within walking distance of where the new station was originally planned.

It has been calculated that a new station would actually be used by 1.3 million passengers a year.

Despite being so close to central London and Canary Wharf, our area actually has poor connections, poor economic conditions and is quite highly deprived.

This means a lot of local people are unable to move about easily to work and see friends and family – they feel isolated.

These feelings will only increase when the new line is built, without a station – it will make people feel even more strongly that transport chiefs have deliberately turned their backs on the area.
